The simple answer to this is Yes! In general terms, Gibson Les Paul models do hold their value well against their new prices (especially when compared to other high end USA electric guitar brands). A Gibson Les Paul Standard is generally the most popular guitar in the range with all current colours selling fairly evenly well. Due to popularity, and the fact that Gibson struggle to keep up with demand - there is always a lively second hand market for a nice looking Gibson Les Paul. Which Gibson Les Paul Should I Buy?

Great question!...and to be fair, one of the most subjective to answer as there are so many variables based on your specific requirements. IF we were to generalise though, the most popular models, and the ones we'd probably use ourselves most of the time would be the Gibson Les Paul Standard. The Les Paul Standard comes in a 50s Neck and 60s Neck variants, with the 50s being a traditional more chunky neck carve, and the 60s being that bit thinner. The 60s neck tends to edge the 50s slightly as a best seller as the neck shape is almost uniformally comfy to play for most people. It also comes in a slightly more varied colour choice. If you want your "Les Paul Fix" then these models would be a great place to start.

Which Gibson Les Paul Has The Thinnest Neck?

Most of the current Les Paul models have a nut width of 43mm. However, the neck carve (rear of the neck that sits in your hand) on the Les Paul Standard 60s model is noticebly thinner in your hand. To a large extent, whether you prefer a 50s neck or a 60s neck is down to what you get used to playing, the casual player may find the 60s neck carve a little easier to get on with at first. As such it tends to be just slightly ahead in popularity.
