Charvel So Cal Style 1 Electric Guitar - Black Finish

On June 13 2008, Charvel introduced the U.S.A. Production Model Series. This new line consists of three models in standard black: San Dimas® Style 1 & 2 and So-Cal Style 1. To keep things interesting, every three months or so, each model is released in in a limited custom colour replacing its previous incarnation. This rotating custom colour option on a production guitar has been met with wild enthusiasm by Charvel fans.

Charvel Production Series So Cal - Style 1
Some of the most eagerly anticipated Rock Guitars of the year have finally arrived into the UK. Featuring all the Charvel Hallmarks of "modification for higher performance" now at a breathtakingly accessible price point.

Featuring the an alder body and a bolt on Charvel San Dimas neck which is to die for, absolutely smooth, totally comfortable and a real eye opener. I play Les Pauls normally and I have to say that I'm an instant convert. The neck is quarter sawn (same as you get on the expensive USA Jacksons/Charvels) which gives the neck more integral strength. The neck is also compound radius which more rounded down by the nut which is great for chording. But as you get higher up the neck the fingerboard is flatter which allows faster and comfier playing.

Pick ups in this unit are excellent Dimarzio units, a Tone Zone in the bridge and an Evolution in the neck. Here's some info on these from Dimarzio:

The Tone Zone® is hot enough to qualify as a high-output pickup, but it has a wider dynamic range-hard picking will produce a lot of power, and softer picking will be much cleaner and quieter. It's got tremendous bass and low-mid response to reinforce the bottom end and make the overall sound bigger. The highest single notes have depth, and chords sound huge. Patented dual-resonance coils reproduce more overtones than you’d expect from such a fat-sounding pickup.

The Evolution in the neck is warm, punchy and loud - perfect for a fat lead pick up, warm enough for blues, gutsy enough for ruckus rock - exceptional. Together the two pick ups provide for an incredibly versatile combination allowing the player to cover a lot of ground, but with one foot firmly in the rock genre. Very pleasing indeed.

Other appointments are a brilliant Floyd Rose system - really smooth, tuning is dead solid, and the black hardware is very very rock.
