Guild's signature excellence in acoustic flat-top guitar design has made its name synonymous with fine quality and craftsmanship.
From three models introduced in 1954—the F-30 Aragon, F-40 Valencia and F-50 Navarre—Guild founded an acoustic empire. The famous D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee and D-50 Bluegrass Special dreadnoughts were introduced in 1963 (at the insistence of Guild veteran Mark Dronge, Al's son), and Guild's flagship dreadnought, the D-55, first appeared in 1968. These guitars and many other Guild six- and 12-string acoustic flat-tops enjoyed widespread use and acclaim from artists and amateurs alike well into the ensuing decades.
The Guild F40 Valencia
Introduced in 1954, the F-40 Valencia featured a compact body shape (slightly larger than the F-30 Aragon) with a spruce top and arched maple back and sides. It’s an incredibly well-balanced guitar, sensitive to light picking or heavy strumming.
Our new F-40 Valencia with D-TAR™ Pickup System has an original grand orchestra body based on the 1954 F-40 Valencia model, with all solid woods, 16” lower bout, red spruce top and bracing, mahogany back and sides, Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, bone bridge pins, tortoise binding, 1 11/16” nut, lacquer finish and the D-TAR® Wave-Length™ Load ’N Lock™ pickup system. Available in Natural (821), Antique Burst (837) and Ice Tea Burst (850).
